Well, this drawing turn out to be very nice for my standards.
Originally, I wanted to draw girl leaning on sword, then everything changed except idea of girl with sword. Many scenarios went through my head and eventually she was sitting legs crossed leaning on sword. Then, the drawing was out of balance...
Drawing a chain-mail shirt consumed her torso so I wanted something else, something less hardcore warrior and more, lovely girl used to sword, but not in too fancy style. Somehow, the idea of leaning on something was quite acceptable, but that something must not be small pillar or anything that cannot be related to character at all.
And then, came the idea of something in marble. Chair? Pillar? Fence?... No, it must be something that will go behind her, but not consume the drawing. (!)
A marble throne chair!
Excellent! And that was it. I drew the base and decided to make back of the chair. After several tryouts, round one was quite acceptable. After that was sketching the shadows and finally finalizing the drawing.
AND THEN CAME THE COLD SHOWER...
I browsed some marble thrones and stumble upon few drawings and paintings from Sanjulian who already drew very similar throne... It was late to change it now.. So, the throne design is staying like it is but I felt bitter taste because i wanted to move away from all styles and historic references. Anyway, if you haven`t see it, browse Manuel Pérez Clemente
, best known as Sanjulian to be amazed by this great fantasy artist.
